Trouble Down Pit

San Antonio has the dubious honour of being the location of the beginning of the Hilton empire. The bartop from their first hotel (which is otherwise destroyed) is now the bar of The Owl Bar & Cafe, which appears to be the hub of a town whose glory years have gone past. The Owl Bar also served burgers to the scientists from the nearby White Sands military research base, where the first nuclear bombs were developed and tested.

You only have to walk 50 meters from The Owl Bar, around the back, to find abandoned buildings and rusting horse carts. This photo was taken through a cracked door, giving a glimpse of the lives left behind when people walked away for the last time.
