‘GTP’ is a real thing. Most of the study indicates that it has quite positive effects, mostly through inducing humour as people realise that they have been plotting the best Assassin’s Creed climbing path up a building’s side, but there are a couple of negative ones too. There is no evidence that these effects are any more serious than the effects of cinema or books that capture the imagination, but it’s definitely interesting stuff and suggests the potential for games to provide useful real-world impulses, potentially saving people’s lives.
