As games designers we think we are putting these barrels in ourselves, but really it is the barrels trying to gain self-awareness. The reason there are so many exploding barrels is that games developers subconsciously are aware of this threat and so make it possible for players to destroy as many barrels as possible.
See you Friday!
Haha! Love it! Finished Deus Ex?
Ta π Yes, I finished it about a month ago – it’s a brilliant game, shame about the underwhelming ending.
Now I really want to make the next GL project an Explosive Barrel one π
Even the thought of that sounds good – there’s a lot of work to be done in the concept of ‘throwing explosive stuff’. It’s usually handled in games prety badly so if you could nail it then you could make something really good.
Have you got your hands on the new release? The Missing Link.
Oh and looking forward to Akham?
No, the reviews were a bit underwhelming so I’m not sure if I’ll get the DLC.
I’m very excited about Batman: AC, but I’ve promised myself that I won’t buy it until I’ve got all of my grading done for university. There’s a lot still to do (pesky students, writing stuff and trying to pass things! π ) so I’ve got to wait a little while yet, but I think it’s a suitable reward for myself, as well as good inspiration!
I can relate to the student bit π
Say, is there a bio of you on the blog?
Can’t say I’ve got to know much of you π
There’s not a huge amount to know: PhD, kung fu, lecturer, likes horror films, games designer… Err… http://www.imdb.com/name/nm4236599/ ?
That is an excellent combination, you know.
And is that a pen-name? Yes, yes I’m inqusitive but only because I absolutely adore the Halloween animations. Pure brilliance.
No, it’s not a pen-name. I’m glad you enjoy the Halloween stories I make π
