Sometimes you have to make a choice when writing. This weekend I wondered ‘how many of my readers will know who the ANC are?’ Then I wondered ‘how many people would know the ANC, but wouldn’t recognise it in the context of a webcomic that more commonly discusses dinosaurs and ducks?’. There’s a lot of balance needed to communicate clearly. A lot of it comes down to context – a person saying ‘Let him have it’ was killed over the ambiguity of the statement – and this isn’t life and death, but even writing this simple strip reminded me of the need to be clear in my communication.
